Ensemble started in Italy during first 2000’s, from the meeting of musicians, illustrators, agitators. Within time it develops an enduring associative organization and a stable work space inside the medieval centre of Bologna, northern Italy.
From 2005 the focus turn into Video – Performative way of action, and then on cinema/documentary, through International collaborations in between Paris, London, Rome and Berlin where are existing other members of the former work group.
Caucaso is a production company and a group of authors working in Cinema since 2004, with the instruments of visual anthropology. In 2012, the release of The Golden Temple, first part of a trilogy film project, premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
In 2014 the documentary Muro Basso – the low Barrier, about the topic of Anti-mafia, is acquired and broadcasted by Italian Rai Storia and the Swiss RSI. The film, with the participation of “Libera” (Italian association against mafia) and the University of Bologna, is used in many Italian classrooms as an educational tool. The same year, Caucaso presented Sinai - un autre pas sur la terre in competition at the Torino Film Festival. Caucaso produced institutional films in collaboration with prestigious institutions such as Biennale di Venezia, Scuderie del Quirinale, RAI, Cineca, La Repubblica.
Following the international success of the short film La pietà del vento, Caucaso produced in collaboration with Mai the documentary Tutto è in fiamme, that continues the exploration on the influence of Buddhism in Italy. The documentary obtained the “cultural interest label” from the Italian Minister of Culture. Caucaso dedicates its effort and a particular focus on the issue of contamination and takes part into the debate on post-modernity.
